Open-Source Radio with EC Mastermind

πŸ“’ Call for Pioneers: Build the Next-Gen Open-Source Radio with ECMastermind

The first 4 student collaborators receive our custom Si4732 RF Frontend Board (Value β‚Ή2800) FREE!

πŸš€ Introducing OpenWave Radio: Where Hardware Meets Code

The open-source revolution needs more hands-on hardware engineers. The ECMastermind Team is launching an ambitious open-source hardware and firmware project, and we are looking for four motivated students to become Founding Contributors. This is a unique opportunity to build a high-profile portfolio project that fuses embedded systems, radio frequency (RF) engineering, and advanced Linux development.

Our core project is centered around our custom-designed Si4732 RF Frontend Board. This professional-grade board transforms any microcontroller into a full-band radio receiver (AM/FM/SW/LW/SSB capable).

The Architecture: A Three-Pillar System

A quick look at the Si4732 Radio Frontend!

The OpenWave Radio project is structured into three key collaboration areas, providing diverse entry points for software and hardware enthusiasts:

  1. FIRMWARE/ (The Embedded Brain):
    • Focus on the Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040).
    • Goal: Build a stunning, responsive user interface (UI/UX) on the OLED/TFT display, manage Si4732 control, and implement real-time features like RDS decoding.
  2. SOFTWARE/ (The Application Layer):
    • Focus on the Linux Host/Raspberry Pi.
    • Goal: Develop a full-stack, aesthetically pleasing application (e.g., a Car Audio GUI in Python/Qt) to control the Si4732 frontend board and display advanced radio information.
  3. HARDWARE/ (The Foundation):
    • Focus on reviewing the PCB design files (Schematics/Gerbers) and helping with assembly documentation and testing.

🌟 Pioneer Contributor Program: FREE Hardware

We believe in removing barriers to genuine innovation. The Si4732 RF Frontend Board costs approximately β‚Ή2800 in the open market.

  • The Incentive: The first four accepted student contributors will receive the fully assembled Si4732 RF Frontend Board absolutely free. This hardware, professionally sponsored by EasyEDA and JLCPCB, is yours to keep, develop on, and showcase.
  • The Showcase: Your code, schematics, and innovative ideas will be prominently featured on our GitHub repository and celebrated across our LinkedIn channels, immediately boosting your professional profile.

πŸ’» Collaboration & Commitment

This is a long-term commitment. The project is fully open-source under the MIT License and is actively maintained by the ECMastermind Team until 2030. All contributions are remote, and you are free to exit at any timeβ€”the learning journey is yours!

We require commitment, creativity, and the ability to articulate your contribution. Every applicant must submit a detailed proposal for a feature they intend to implement.

🚨 Deadline & Scarcity Warning:

The free hardware offer is strictly limited to the first four confirmed contributors. Once the spots are filled, the entry form will close and redirect.
